SO….when I learned I was expecting my first child, the very first thing I did was buy “Oh Baby, The Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss. At the time, my choice seemed almost random. In hindsight, it perfectly reflected my love of travel and my hope that my child, and eventually children, would embrace the wonders of the world as I have.
Travel is one of the most enriching and self-fulfilling experiences one can have. It’s a remarkable way to raise cultural awareness, hone interpersonal skills, and spark inspiration and creativity. I encourage everyone to engage in travel, as it turns the world into a dynamic classroom, offering lessons and experiences that are impossible to find within the confines of traditional education.
In my travels across the globe, I have been fortunate to have countless unforgettable experiences. I’ve dipped my toes in the Persian Gulf, meditated at shrines in Japan, driven through the French countryside, wandered through historic buildings in Scotland, and even assisted in the delivery of a baby in Zambia. Each adventure has broadened my horizons, enriched my understanding, and left me with memories that I cherish deeply.
Travel teaches us more than just geography and history; it teaches empathy, resilience, and the beauty of diversity. It’s about connecting with people from different walks of life, understanding their stories, and realizing that despite our differences, we share a common humanity.
So, as I look back at that first purchase, “Oh Baby, The Places You’ll Go,” I smile with knowledge that my children bravely embrace travel, eager to see the world, experience its wonders and learn from its endless lessons.
SO….I encourage you to pack your bags, embark on your journey, and let the world be your guide. Oh baby, the places you’ll go!
